Thanks for the report.  My current development version does not crash.
I recall fixing a bug in this area recently.

If you'd like to try it, you can get the latest pretest from
ftp://alpha.gnu.org/gnu/texinfo/texinfo.tar.gz (or .bz2).  I hope to
make the next release shortly.

If you'd like to be on the texinfo-pretest list, please let me know.
