    numerous cases I'd like to be able to pass a comma to say my own
    macros.  

1) I love @macro.
2) I thought args to @macro was one of the few places (@defun is the
other one I can think of) where unescaped braces were allowed.

    I would love something such as "@," standing for "escaped comma".

Well, it can't be @, that is already a cedilla accent.  But it seems
like @comma{} might work essentially for free.  Since there is no "," in
@comma{}, our simple-minded parsing won't notice it.
