As for accumulating font changes in Texinfo go, I'm not sure what to
say.  I agree in principle, I guess, but it will take some time to
implement in texinfo.tex.

As it happens, I put in some scaffolding today to support the LaTeX
logo, but until it's all really working, it still seems desirable for me
to have the HTML and TeX output agree as much as possible (especially
since it's already implemented in makeinfo).

There is also the problem of the missing bold typewriter and bold
slanted typewriter.  I actually found a cmttb10.mf (as well as a --
different -- cmbtt10.mf), but they don't seem to have outlines.  I doubt
bitmap-only fonts would suffice to make users happy these days.
