It doesn't need to. This thread started when Richard said that "See
   Overview" looks bad.

Unless I completely misunderstood, that was because it did not make
clear that it was a reference to the `cl' manual.

I'd say the same about "See Narrowing". All I wanted to achieve is
a less awkward text, that's all; if the user doesn't understand
that the xref leads to another manual, so be it.

Then we are not talking about the same thing.

The Texinfo language doesn't leave us a choice, I'm afraid: it doesn't
specify any dependencies between the arguments.

We might again not be talking about the same thing, but to me
`(texinfo)Cross Reference Parts', `(texinfo)Four and Five Arguments'
and other places in the Texinfo manual, clearly define the meaning of
the arguments.

I believe we already talked about turning off Info-hide-note-references
by default. Was that done? (I cannot check where I'm typing this.)

No. We talked about it, but unless Richard contradicts me, we failed
to convince Richard. However, Richard did indicate in this thread
that he believes that the file name should not be hidden if the
reference leads to another manual, which would, I believe, be a
definite improvement. I believe I remember from the prior discussion
that Kim also has no objections against showing the file name in those
circumstances.

Sincerely,

Luc.
