Just use it.  

If a document correctly used @url for an example url in the past, then
it will just be output as a live link in 4.7 (unless/until it is changed
to @indicateurl, if you're willing to assume 4.7).  No great harm there.

At least such was my logic.

In looking at existing uses of @url, well over 90% of them were
incorrect and should have been @uref.  I figured it was a losing battle
to try to get people to understand -- @url is just too mnemonic of a name.
