I'd like to draw your attention to the following Usenet thread about problems with running the "info" command on Solaris: http://groups.google.com/groups?selm=407B75D3.BE73F12C%40doe.carleton.ca http://groups.google.com/groups?selm=407B995B.ED506ED7%40doe.carleton.ca http://groups.google.com/groups?selm=407CE647.E7D6CB27%40doe.carleton.ca The basic idea is that Fred Ma of Carleton was trying to use "info" on a system where by default it accessed a slow NFS device. He couldn't work around the problem, even by setting INFOPATH and/or using "-d".
