P.S. I should say, it did not occur to me that any user would notice the
change, or care if they did, since I've never heard of makeinfo -E being
used in any context except texi2dvi.  (And in fact, no one has reported
anything about it, except you.)  It was just a workaround for a bug in
my eyes.
