I have beamer, but I don't know what your file is doing ...
Anyway, if I run
tex --file-line-error-style '\nonstopmode' '\input' testfont.tex
which reads a font name from stdin, it correctly (I think) does an
emergency stop. This is with tex both web2c 7.5.2 (TL 2003) and 7.5.3
(TL 2004).
I think this is worth reporting to the authors of tetex, ie. to
address@hidden
Bugs in the core tex program are best reported to address@hidden
(As, surprisingly enough, the --help output says.)
Anyway, I forwarded Didier's report there for Olaf (Weber, the web2c
maintainer) to look at.
