You're certainly right. Since the warning in the "First Node" node no
longer applies, in my tests of info and M-x info, anyway, I did the
simple thing and removed it. (dir) is ok for the prev of the top node.
(It's also what makeinfo does.)
I also think there is something missing around line 5156. It says
"here is an example" but no example follows.
Your example is right, but I just deleted the whole reference, in favor
of the simple example without explicit node pointers at all. That is
the recommended thing to do ...
