eradicate the previous version?

I recently installed texinfo-4.8 under Mac OSX 3.9.  Still, when I 
issue "info" commands, the page refers to version 4.6.  are there some 
files in there that I must eradicate so that more recent pages are used 
instead?  Or is this OK?  A quick check with "find" did not show any 
older files belonging to version 4.6.  But perhaps not all of the 
package has been updated.

Please advise.
