Hi Paulo,
Thanks for the latin1 patch. It's one of the best such efforts I've
received to date, and I think it could actually be included with minimal
changes.(*)
As it turns out, another volunteer (Oleg Katsitadze, hi Oleg), has done
a tremendous amount of work at my request (fervent pleading is more like
it :) to extend Texinfo to more encodings and more fonts. (To do a good
job, the two are inseparable, since TeX won't hyphenate words with
\accent-ed characters like \'e in OT1).
However, perhaps it would be good to include your support now, until
Oleg and I finish working out his more extensive implementation. (Which
is in my court right now, unfortunately.) Oleg, wdyt?
Thanks,
Karl
(*) I'd actually like the support to be integrated into texinfo.tex.
Although it seems an obvious candidate to put into a separate file, the
convenience of having a single texinfo.tex has been considerable, and,
after all, the definitions are relatively small and short.
