Sure, no problem with that.

My only concern is that I would like to be able to write a small article about my work for a local journal, and I'm not sure what would be implications of this transfer of copyright ownership with regards to publication in the journal. Don't worry. Whether assignment or disclaimer, the FSF certainly does not want to stop you from writing about your own work! In the case of disclaimers, you still own it. Just FYI, in the case of assignments, the legalese includes the FSF re-assigning back to you the right to do anything reasonable with it.
