The .texi files and all .pdf to be included are 30 MB big.  You can
download the 13 MB tarball at

However, if the fix I propose in my reply to Karl works, and if no other
major problem (i.e. non-zero texi2pdf exit code) arises, you won't need
look at it :-)

PDFLaTeX, which supports the UTF-8 subset equivalent to Latin 1, outputs
PDF with bookmarks encoded in Latin 1; the accented characters in these
cookmarks look good in Evince on my computer.  I don't know how easy it
would be to take inspiration from LaTeX UTF-8 support with inputenc and
fontenc to improve UTF-8 support in Texinfo/TeX.
