The current texinfo.tex changes this from an error to a warning, so
typesetting can proceed, even if the output isn't great.

    @deftypevar {void (*} error_print_progname ) (void)

Texinfo isn't prepared to handle this "correctly", so the above
weirdness is probably about the best that can be done.  I'm not even
sure what feature would need to be added in principle.  Some completely
different syntax from the existing @def... things is what comes to mind :(.
