I guess you wanted to write
<itemizedlist>
<listitem>Item1</listitem>
<listitem>Item2</listitem>
<listitem>Item3</listitem>
</itemizedlist>
But it is invalid docbook, docbook requires a paragraph (or
a similar container) in <listitem>.
