You can get the latest texi2dvi from
http://ftpmirror.gnu.org/texinfo/texi2dvi.
(And the latest texinfo release was 5.1.)
If there is still a problem, please show me the actual code it's
complaining about. "Line 132" tells me nothing, and there is (and
always has been) code to avoid defining the local() replacement function
if it's not needed.
texi2dvi has been running under original Bourne sh and plenty of other
shells, including dash, since day one.
