I did this in commit a0fd61252adb22ce47aae2b (on 20th November).

The main other problem is updating the contents sidebar after an
index search.  You can see it at

https://www.gnu.org/software/texinfo/manual/texinfo-html/index.html

or by generating the manual from texinfo.texi in the git repository.
When you search for an index entry with "i", the sidebar is completely
expanded after going to the new index entry.

I remember this was a problem in the past which may have been fixed,
but it is broken now.

It would be good to have this fixed before the 7.0.1 bug-fix release.
I do not know if I will have time or be able to fix it myself.
