Thanks for running the tests.  This appears to be a similar error to
that which you reported earlier for Solaris 11 OmniOS for an earlier
version of the code, Texinfo pretest 7.1.0.90, with an extra "0" file
being created:

We never managed to solve this mystery at the time.  The string "0"
can be a source of bugs in Perl programs as it is considered false.
It's possible that there is a variable that is supposed to have the
name of a file in it, but instead is false or has the value 0, which
is then changed into a string automatically.  It seems like something
that it would be fairly straightforward to track down for someone with
access to such a system.
