It may be free today, but you have no guarantee that it will be free
tomorrow. That's the point I'm making.
There are two main aims from having the software in schools: to train users
to use their software; and to make money from selling it. Even if they have
discarded the money today in order to make money, if they get dominant
market share, it is likely that they will charge. Then schools will be back
to where they are today.
With Free Software, you pay once (often nothing) and then pay for support if
you choose/need to, not for mere use.
