I don't know enough about sound and music and scales and stuff to even
understand what that last sentence meant :)

While doing this small hack I was thinking that it would be nice to have
a simple music program in Emacs, something like the old "trackers" on
the Amiga. I saw one some time ago made in Elisp but it was too basic,
IIRC, I don't think one could use samples, for example. And I don't know
if it would be possible technically to do it, the internal `play-sound*'
functions block Emacs until the sound is played so a sound cannot be
interrupted and calling external commands, controlling mplayer or
whatever, could introduce a delay from when you press a key to when the
sound starts playing. At least I would guess so.
