The Following text shows how freedom and
free-executables are confused! The more that I get to
know RMS, the less I believe that he was informed
about this issue. Knowing his busy schedule, I know
that he does not have the time to police all the
projects, but this will have to be reviewed again. We
have to set a good example here.

I think that these people are shooting themselves in
the foot with such statements like "prevented a
further development of VCG" that is that not the
spirit of the GPL? How did the commerical company get
the code? The had access to the non-shrouded sources.

The obfuscated sources and binary distribution which
contradict the idea of the GNU General Public License
prevented a further development of VCG outside of
Saarland University.

Nevertheless, packages VCG 1.3 (for Unixes) and
VCG 1.4 MS alpha (for Windows3.1) are still freely
available and are widely used.

The development of the non-public version of VCG at
Saarland University continued until 1996.
In January 2000, AbsInt Angewandte Informatik GmbH
licensed the non-public version of VCG from the
Saarland University for commercial usage.
