I can only speak for South Africa: if you're jobless and not a
pensioner, you're out of luck, you'd better head off to the streets and
beg (or perform some pro forma "work" in exchange for handouts from
motorists), or into the suburbs and burgle houses.  If you're lucky
enough to be a pensioner, the state may pay you about 800 Rand (if that
much) a month; that's about 100 US$.

I imagine the situation might be more dire in Uganda, and maybe also in
India.  (Good luck if you're an "untouchable".  They might allow you to
scoop the poop out of their blocked sewers, in exchange for not beating
you up that day.)

I don't think Mexico's per-capita income is particularly high.  Nor do I
think such is the case in Bolivia, Colombia, Nicaragua or Brazil.

I think if people in the United States have enough money to fund a war
or two every so many years, they have enough money to sit on their
collective butts while the rest of us gladly buckle down to the hard
work of creating value.
