In case you're talking about Amazon's infamous patent, the choices were
not single click or double click, but one click or more than one click
(e.g. two clicks).

IOW, after spending millions of research dollars, Amazon came up with
the world-shattering invention of clicking *once*, an ingenious idea
which was non-obvious even to the most renowned experts in the field,
and had never been thought of, let alone practiced, before.
