I see the 2006 google Summer of Code is in progress. See http://code.google.com/soc/mentorfaq.html#1 The libcdio http://www.gnu.org/software/libcdio project could really use help. It seems that there needs to be a mentoring organization is needed. Could FSF be such an organization? (I've just put up my list of potential projects for libcdio here: http://cvs.savannah.gnu.org/viewcvs/libcdio/libcdio/doc/2006-summer-of-code.txt)
