Honorary PhDs are real degrees. In fact in academic circles, an honorary PhD is thought of very highly because to earn one a person has to accomplish a great deal in life rather than just sit through 7 years of school like other doctors. RMS has 4 of honorary PhDs (one from the Swedish Royal Institute of Technology, which beats Linköpng anyday), and a honorary professorship. Guess RMS did more in his life than Bill Gates. > Is it correct to call him "Doctor" Gates when his PhDs are > pretend? Once again, his PhDs are not pretend. They are legitimate degrees. Actually, they are not legitimate. They a _honorary_ PhDs. The person who got the honoray PhD didn't do an disseration which means anyone who is a bit famous can get a honoray PhD. Now go away... We have free software to write.
