The first 2007 New York City UBUCON will open its doors at 8:30
in the morning on Friday 16 February 2007 at 111 Eighth Avenue on
the Island of the Manahattoes. UBUCON will be held within the
New York offices of Google.
UBUCON asks that UBUCON players enter at 76 Ninth Avenue. UBUCON
suggests that all who wish to attend the UBUCON register their
intent at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/TheUbucon/RSVP
If you cannot register at this page, please write directly to
John Mark Walker, impresario of this UBUCON, at

>From https://wiki.ubuntu.com/TheUbucon :
Google's NYC office is located at 76 9th Avenue in Chelsea,
Manhattan, between 8th and 9th Avenue and 15th and 16th
Street. Please enter the building on the northwest side (16th
Street & 9th Avenue). A Google representative will be on hand to
greet you, provide you with a building badge, and direct you to
the 8th floor.
To get to Google New York, take the A/C/E or L subway to 14th
Street, and exit onto 8th Avenue. Alternatively, the 1/2/3 subway
lines and M11, M14, and M20 buses service the surrounding
area. If you are driving, the closest parking lot is located in
the building, accessible from 15th or 16th Street.

Ubuntu enthusiasts claim that the UBUCON is Free Software's
oldest regular meeting. The first UBUCON was celebrated in Paris
in 1907. Imagists, Yggdrassilians, and FreeBSD folk dominated
the Install Fest. Despite the occultation of Alfred Jarry, two
world wars, the rise of Jerry Lewis, and the extraordinary
provocations of Art Buchwald, the protean UBUCON has never
failed. At least one call went out every year, and every year
the faithful assembled, the lustration was performed, and the
penultimate banquet was enjoyed in the traditional postures.
I, Jay Sulzberger, will speak at 3:00 pm in Room One. I will
speak on the present correlation of forces in the struggle
between the Englobulators and the people of Earth. We will
remark the nexus of the $165 laptop, the proposed WIPO X-Cast
treaty, Network Neutrality, quantum computing, and the secret
writings of George Boole.
For more information on this UBUCON, see the official
announcement by John Mark Walker. The announcement is appended.

Hello folks,
I am happy to tell you about the 2nd UbuCon, an Ubuntu user and
developer event, to take place at Google's New York City offices
on February 16. Some of you may recall that the first UbuCon was
held in August at Google headquarters in Mountain View, CA.

February 16 will be a special day for Ubuntu users and the Ubuntu
curious. If you're already an Ubuntu user, come on by - tell your
story of how you're using Ubuntu Linux; help out at the
installfest; or just hang out with some interesting people. If
you're not an Ubuntu user, then here is your chance to learn what
the fuss is about.
The UbuCon New York will be held at the brand new Google offices
in Manhattan, located at 76 9th Avenue (or 111 8th Ave, depending
on which side of the building you enter). Part un-conference,
part installfest, and part user group meeting, The UbuCon will
take place simultaneously in one large auditorium and 3 - 6 small
(~20 people) conference rooms. Lunch will be served on-site.
Participants and attendees are all welcome, and true to form with
free software, everyone can be both. If you have an Ubuntu story
to tell, whether it's as a sysadmin, developer, or home user,
please tell us about it.
If you're interested in participating or helping out in some way,
the first IRC meeting will take place this Friday, 6pm ET on
#ubucon on irc.freenode.net.
I hope to see you there. Please forward this to whoever you think
would benefit. If you plan to attend, please RSVP. There is a
limit of 200 people.
Thanks,
John Mark Walker
