Microsoft just got fined 1.5e9 dollars (yes, 1.5 billion with a "b")
for patent violations with respect to playing mp3's under ms-windows.

My question is, how will this effect free/open formats like
ogg-vorbis? Is the patent broad enough to effect vorbis? Or
alternately will it make vorbis more attractive in the eyes of the
"mp3 player" manufacturers? These are interesting times...
