They can't.  "open source" is just a marketing campaign for free

You could argue that the concept of "free software" existed
before RMS or GNU.  That seems to be what you are arguing.

I'd say that free software predates RMS, but the free software
*movement* is something he started.


For those who believe RMS is the next messiah, history will conform
