It's completely unrelated.  Microsoft had a contract with Sun granting
them permission to use the Java trademark provided that they complied
with the specification.  They breached the contract by "extending" Java
but continued to use the trademark.  Google is party to no such contract
and is not using the trademark.

Nothing is stopping you from writing a vm for your favorite platform.
Google won't sue you for patent infringement.

They did.  It just happens to be essentially a dialect of Java.  So
what?  Nobody can own a computer language.
