It would be good to avoid generalization.
That was a statement that was created, people from various parts of
the world cannot possibly make a joint statement in same time. There
was initator to that statement, and initator invited other people, and
one by one the list is now on about 30 people.
If you say "GNU maintainers", that is generalization, there are many
GNU maintainers.
