hi!
since i were a very frequent user of Deluxe Paint at early 90s (AmigaOS Version), i were curious to know Gpaint. Gpaint is indeed a good tool, but missing lots of very useful features, which i'd like to suggest, at least to be part of the Gpaint TODO document:
1- editable palette (Deluxe Paint 1.0 Amiga version has this)
2- pattern palette, a simple one, just like MacPaint from late 80's
3- '~/.gpaint/' folder having pattern and palette folders, which we can have our own custom ones available - patterns as pictures, palettes as x11 rgb-like used on Gimp and Inkscape
4- custom picture size (different of 640x480)
5- connectivity to imagemagick, allowing users to create/share their own effects as plugins
6- line width larger than 9
7- mirror, resize, brush, grid, zoom (splitted window), etc. just like from Deluxe Paint
8- animation (Deluxe Paint 4.0 for Amiga has this) - this can work on a picture sequence, like used on CinePaint, and Gpaint could also generate animated .gif and .mng pictures (even video files, with help from ffmpeg)
9- pictures in indexed mode as option beyond rgb mode, which palette edition would affect directly on the picture - for helping, some options for colour reduction would be welcome (like Deluxe Paint has)
10- shift key pressed for creating circles instead of ellipses, and squares instead of rectangles
i think they are all for now!
thanks and best wishes,
