You are loading a shared library, which means you must also make sure the
directory the lib is in must be in your LD_LIBRARY_PATH (or equivalent), or
some similar measure like editing ld.so.conf (on Linux).

If all this is correct, too, then I'm as lost as you are. You then should
really check what libltdl is doing ...
