Great example.  For years, GnuCash required users (classic lusers:
non-programmers but early-linux-adopters) who were installing GnuCash
for the first time ever to type some cryptic stuff as root to complete
the install of slib.   Later this got simplified to "run gnucash
once as root" which is still pretty cryptic, as well as being a security 
exposure.
