You must have a slow machine. On my latest box, I'd swear
emacs loads even faster than notepad - I don't even see messages
flicker in the minibuffer. It is up, fully loaded, and ready
to go by the time I take my finger off the mouse button
(I know I have problems believing it, but it is true :-).
