I did it the other way around: I instructed mbsync to ignore the
.nnmaildir files by adding some negated pattern rules to its
configuration, specifically to the Channel configuration, like this:
Patterns INBOX * !.nnmaildir !INBOX/.nnmaildir
I'm not sure if it's redundant. Good luck!
