I confused the last part of the SSH key file with how a PGP key has a 
corresponding email. 

I understand it now as the following:
The (plain-file ...) function is supposed to reflect the contents of the remote 
administrator's id_ed*.pub file.
I am not sure if the name files have to match too, but that is testable easily 
enough.
