This has to do with Bash interpreting wild cards and not CVS. Since
'copy*' doesn't resolve to an existing file, bash passes the literal to
CVS and cvs doesn't know anything about any files named 'copy*'.
A work around for this is to use:
$bash: cvs rm -f copy*
instead of:
$bash: rm copy*
$bash: cvs remove copy*
