accessing a remote repository

Hi,

this may be trivial but I am fresh with CVS.

I am trying to access a remote repository on machine say "remote" with a username say "user".

On the local machine:

local$ cvs -d :pserver:address@hidden:/path/to/repository login

 

and then I get an error:

cvs [login aborded]: recv() from server xx.xx.xx.xx: connection reset by peer

 

What does this mean anyway?
