The history file isn't used internally by CVS at all -- it's just an
audit trail.  If you never use it, you can just delete it; CVS won't
recreate it and it won't even complain about it not being there.  If you
do use it but you want to trim it down in size, you can truncate it as
above or remove parts of it using your favorite tools; it's just a text
file.  As of 1.11, you can also use LogHistory in CVSROOT/config to
limit what gets recorded to just what you're interested in.
