If this were really true, then the developers of CVS would have packed
up and gone home long ago. CVS continues to evolve, but not in the
directions that some of us would like to see. CVS didn't always have
a client/server implementation, for example.

The fundamental design of CVS can accomodate many features discussed in
this forum, many of them more readily than a client/server implementation.

CVS, like all software, is very maleable. Like any software tool, it can,
and it should, evolve to suit the needs of its users (and not the other way
around). There are limits to how far CVS can go while retaining its identity
and its niche, but it has a long way to go before it begins to challenge them.
