Hi,

As someone else has already said pserver will use the unix login passwords
of anyone who is a user on that unix server. Set-up all of your wincvs users
as users on your server and put them in the right group to see your cvs
repository. The use of Tortoise is great, it uses the same settings on your
windows clients as wincvs and uses exactly the same way to connect to your
server so if ssh works with wincvs it works just as well with Tortoise.

My instructions for our various admins here are

-For each user an account and password are needed on the server they need to
access.
-Also each user has to be added to the group that owns the repository they
require access to.
-If possible do not include users in the cvsadmin group.
-Any new repository needs to be added to the \etc\inetd.conf file. This
reference needs to go into the cvspserver line at the bottom of the file as
a -allow-root= option.

We are using cvs as one of many cm tools. We use wincvs, tortoise and
command line as well as other cvs front ends.

Other tools used include PVCS and MKSSI.

Mike.

All,

A little advice please.. I'm trying to figure out what the best set up
(client, server) option would be . we want these

1.. HP UX CVS server 1.11.1.p1 server....
2. WinCvs Client
3. Tortois explorer client
4. CVSWEBCLIENT the new one

We don't want authentication to happen in the clear over the intranet.. I
thought SSH would do this, but don't think it'll help with
WinCVS. We also don't want to have to maintain a seperate Passwd file
(like with the pserver option of WinCVS)

Thanks in Advance for you time and knowledge

Matt
