Or, if you insist on living dangerously (as I do) use editors and
compilers that are smart enough to distinguish the type of line ending
in a file, and behave accordingly. Examples of editors: Emacs on any
platform, or PFE (Programmer's File Editor) on Windows. Examples of
compilers: MSVC++ on Windows (just don't use the builtin editor), gcc
on any platform, *NOT* GNU make or BSD make, if I recall correctly.
