This is a follow-up to an old thread of about a month ago.

1. You can ensure some algorithmically determinable characteristics of the
source tree by a commit script. For example, you can ensure that your source
compiles (e.g. see Tinderbox).

2. You can also derive algorithmically some characteristics e.g. churn
rates.

3. You cannot assess programmer skill levels algorithmically. The standard
point is that it is sometimes productive to remove lines of code.
