how to update special versions into a branch

Hi,

I'd like to know if there is any chance to update a special revision of
a main trunk file into a branch. 

(I know about cvs update -j HEAD, but in this manner a only get the
revisions from top of the trunk. I know also about cvs update -r <rev>,
but this prevents me from commiting changes.) 

I dont want to have a screenshot of the main trunk, but rather a
collection of files with special revision-numbers.
