taginfo and branches

Are there any plans to improve taginfo so that a script could distinguish
between the creation of a branch tag versus ordinary tag?

This would be useful, because there are all kinds of reasons why such
a script might need to take different action.

For example, the users may have different naming schemes for branch
tags and non-branch tags, and might want to use taginfo to validate it.
