Just draw yourself some diagrams showing how the branches form, keeping
in mind that the default branch is the vendor branch until after a local
commit is made, and then go through the motions of doing an import to
that vendor branch and do the normal merge of vendor changes, and then
finally look at what state your "normal" branches are going to be in and
what you'll have to do to either merge vendor or other local change up
to them, and/or to re-create them from a new branch point.

>From the point of view of how vendor-branched modules are normally
maintained, private local branches are essentially frozen in time and
frozen out of all the benefits one would want to use the vendor branch
feature for in the first place.
