strange release -d error

    Hey people. I've been getting this lately when I try to do a cvs release
-d on my sandbox. 

address@hidden projects]$ cvs release -d CVSROOT/
You have [0] altered files in this repository.
Are you sure you want to release (and delete) directory `CVSROOT/': y
cvs release: deletion of directory CVSROOT/ failed: Unknown error 523

    Does anyone know what this is?
