Hi,
I have linux server cvs1.11 and WinCVS1.2 and this works well.

What is your setting of CVSROOT in WinCVS1.2?
(look at Admin->Preferences->General)

My configuration:
address@hidden:/mycvsdir
Authentication: .rhosts
"use cvs1.10(Standard)" (this is a rather old string)

On myserver in HOMEDIR of myname is ~/.rhosts with a line:
long-(ip)-name-of-my-clientcomputer myname

Hope this helps.
Vera
