Right, but it *does* apply to the files you want it to.  That is, "cvs
add *" will warn about files that are already in CVS, but it will still
add all the new files that aren't in CVS.  Likewise "cvs rm" will warn
about files that still exist, but it will still remove all the files
that don't exist any more.

It's not used in that sense -- benediction is usually used only to refer
to a divine blessing at the end of a church service.  Other blessings
are just blessings.
