It seems that they provide a modified version of the command line cvs.

The command line cvs from WinCVS supports the switch --lf which means
using LF instead of CR/LF for text files (there is an option in the GUI
as well). If you always work in that mode you should be able to share
the working directory between Unix and Windows (we had no problem so
far).

Yes, that is what it means. As outlined above you do not have to live
with that "solution".
